CORVETTE -Carolina Vettepack - Spring & Charleston

Wow! I cannot believe it is the first of March! February came in and went in such a hurry! There are unmistakable signs of spring evident the last week or so in the upstate of South Carolina. The birds are really talking in the mornings, the jonquils are starting to bloom and I noticed the Bradford pear trees at the front of the neighborhoods look like they are about to open up any minute!

Check your websites and I bet you will see that there will be some cruise ins happening this month! Our favorite cruise-in car, the 72 coupe, is getting a few things taken care of so hopefully it will be ready to go soon. It is a great car to take to the events because it is Steel Cities Gray and you don't see a lot of those around anymore. The 72 is really very comfortable (a lot people think they are not) and I never get tired of riding around in it. It has a good bit of room for stuff unless you have the tops off but I still manage to find room for what I need.

Also, the Carolina Vettepack hopes to get out for a dinner cruise next weekend. Some of us in the group have had some forced downtime since the holiday season and that means we are all chompin' at the bit to get out and around! We are always on the lookout for new places to go and see!

In April, there is a group, Coastal Carolina Corvette Club, that is putting on a show on April 19 in North Charleston, SC, called Vettes Doin' the Charleston.
Ladies, the hotel is next to an Tanger outlet mall! Our little group is planning on driving down early that Saturday and taking in the show, then going out to eat some good low country seafood! Sunday morning, the plan is to drive into Charleston and cruise the Battery. Check out this Corvette club at www.4c.com

More to come later on upcoming events....

CORVETTE 2008 is a go for the Carolina Vettepack

The co-founders of the Carolina Vettepack came up with some great ideas for our "unclub" to particpate in for the first part of 2008. For February, we are going to try and organize a progressive dinner and tie it into the weekend before or after Valentine's day. In March, the Corvette Expo will be held in Sevierville, Tennessee on the 28 & 29. April brings us the "Vettes Doin' the Charleston" put on by the Coastal Carolina Corvette Club on the 18th. This one is particularly interesting, ladies, because it is at a Tanger outlet mall! Looking forward to May when we will be going to the Vettes in the Valley held in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, on May 24 & 25th. The picture above is one our group who showed at Vettes at the Valley in 2007. This is Memorial Day weekend so we will have an extra day to enjoy on that weekend. Corvettes at Myrtle Beach will be held June 6 & 7th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Here are some links to check things out:

Corvette - Carolina Vettepack Co-founders meeting

I haven't been able to post in the last few days. That doesn't mean we haven't been busy mulling around ideas for 2008. My husband, Don, has been surfing the net for Corvette events and happenings for this year. The co-founders are meeting here tonight for dinner and discussion of upcoming activities.

The menu is extremely casual, atmosphere relaxed. We will start with artichoke & spinach dip with wheat crackers. An Italian house salad will be followed by lasagna and garlic bread. For dessert, a good ol' BC standby, "Better than Almost Anything" Cake. It is, too!

Some events sure to be discussed are the Corvette Expo this spring in Sevierville, Tennesse, and the 15th Anniversary bash of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, September, 2009.
