I have heard older people say "When the Fourth of July is past, the summer is almost over." It does seem to be true, in a manner of speaking. A recent trip to the Garden Ridge store showed a center aisle full of silk mums in fall colors and decorative scarecrows. Rows and rows of empty shelves were ready for the influx of Halloween and fall decorations. Who knows? Maybe the store is going to skip autumn and go for stocking Christmas decor.
If you have been kind enough to read my recent postings, you will note that I have not been writing about Corvette outings. Our little group had a very busy May and June. We enjoyed some very nice trips into North Carolina and some wonderful dinners here in Greenville, SC. But the hot weather is upon us and I think most are laying low and staying around home. The gas prices don't help.
As for my husband and I, we have been overhauling the kitchen for the past couple of months. It has been a labor of love and we are almost finished!! Also, in between work and the kitchen re-do, we have been trying to keep our yard in half-way decent shape. (Our area may be in a drought situation but someone forgot to tell the weeds!)
So....I am "kinda-sorta" looking forward to fall because the summer projects will hopefully be completed, the yard squared away, and cooler weather will entice the Vettes back on the road looking for new places to explore!
