The bad economy dealt us a personal blow this week. My husband wanted his regular fix of spaghetti from Capri's Italian restaurant in Mauldin, SC. We had some errands to run yesterday afternoon so it was decided to end up at Capri's for supper. If the no frills message on their sign didn't make it plain enough, "For Sale", their lovely windowboxes full of pretty flowers told the story. They were solid brown and very dead. On the other side of their sign, there was a message thanking all their "regulars" for their support over the years.
This restaurant had been in business for more than 20 years. It was a great place to go for an Italian nosh. Intimate when it was just the two of you. Wonderful to take your family to. A great place to go with friends. I have never found any other place that had Meatball Parmesan that even came close to Capri's. They knew us, they knew when Don ordered "crunchy" garlic bread, it was the secret code word to burn it! I don't think we ever had a bad meal there.
Farewell, Capri's of Mauldin, we will miss you greatly!!
