Ready to Go....Now!!

Corvette souls. We were told there would be about 70 people attending the planning meeting last Saturday at the Hampton Inn off Speedway Blvd. in Charlotte NC. There were about 175 people in the conference room. There were people from as far south as Hilton Head, SC, and from as far north as Roanoke, VA. Hello!

Picture a parking lot full of Corvettes, sparkling colors, happy drivers. All were ready to hear about the plans for the upcoming NCM 15th Anniversary Caravan scheduled for Labor Day weekend this year. Everyone had brought noshies and drinks were provided. We settled in to watch a DVD on the NCM's expansion. Then we were treated to the Caravan DVD. Wow, it just gets better and better!!

Our chairman, Frank Sancineto, took us on a day by day rundown on what is in the works so far. Tuesday, Sept 1, we will meet up at the same Hampton Inn in Charlotte, NC. It is a nice hotel and I look forward to staying with them again. That afternoon they have arranged for us to do laps on the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Ten laps, ten cars on the track at a time. No passing, 80 mph. maximum speed. Convertibles allowed w/o rollbars and no helmets required. Then for a reasonable fee, the Winner's Circle will be available for pictures of our cars parked inside of it. The money is all going to one of the Children's Hospitals in Charlotte from these pictures, so warm fuzzies all around....we get to help someone else and get a cool picture of our cars to keep!

Then it is chill out time. Arrangements are being made to have Back Yard burgers cater the evening meal at the hotel. So after our time at the Speedway, it will be back to the hotel, get a quick shower and get ready for a great evening of hanging out at the pool and the hotel's very comfy (and spacious) lobby and dining area.

On the road the next morning, heading for Sevierville, TN. We will be staying at another Hampton Inn there, where a barbeque is being planned at the hotel. We will need to turn in early because we are getting an early start the next morning.

7:00 a.m. Bright and early! We will be on the road for Bowling Green, KY!!!! I suspect I will be driving as the better half is not a morning person and I start bouncing off the walls at about 6:00 a.m. We will not be taking I-40 but will be on a different route through the mountains. I haven't been on these roads before so I am looking forward to seeing something different!

More details will be available as the time to go gets closer. But we had a blast at the planning meeting and look forward to seeing our new friends again in September!
