There are the "Racers"-a fun-loving group of enthusiasts who get their thrills tackling low and high speed autocross courses. A lot of them travel to different states competing for points and bragging rights. They all seem to have a great time but for this group, it is all about the racing.
Then there are the "Waxers". This group of Corvette owners is passionate about showing their cars at car shows and cruise-ins, winning trophies and awards to adorn their immaculate garages. You will see these guys constantly polishing and shining their Corvettes every chance they get. If you are ever on a road trip with a group of Corvette owners, you will be able to pick out the Waxers immediately. They will be the ones whipping out a rag to spot polish their car at every rest area or restaurant stop. There is nothing wrong with this because their cars always look great!
My feeling is that there is a great number of Corvette owners (my husband and I included) who fit into a third group that fits the name the "Cruisers". We are the people who just want to get out and drive our cars on road trips to new places. On occasion, we might be in the mood to take in a low-speed autocross. Or we're pretty good at spiffing up our car to go to a car show or cruise in. But for us, it is not about winning of trophies for the best looking car or gaining bragging rights because we got the fastest time on the autocross course. The Cruisers are happiest just being around other Corvette brothers and sisters. We like to enjoy the cars, sight-see, check out cool restaurants, and don't forget shopping! You'd be surprised to see how much stuff you can get into the back of a Corvette C5!
