Encouraging Spouses to embrace the Corvette Lifestyle

It has always been a mystery to me to see so many Corvette owners at car shows and other events without their spouses, significant others and special friends. My husband and I were members of a sanctioned Corvette Club for a number of years. Month after month, the same solo people (mostly men) would attend what a former club president termed "the most boring part of being a club member", the monthly meeting. Afterwards, we would adjourn to a local restaurant for dinner and conversation. A few of these "single on club meeting night" guys would join the rest of us, from time to time, for what was a more interesting hour than the one we had just sat through. I used to wonder, why go to the effort to come out for the meeting and not go out to dinner afterwards?

The question then poses itself, why wouldn't the ladies want to come out with their husbands and have dinner at a nice restaurant after the meeting? The answer, I think, is that a lot of spouses (yes, mostly women) don't understand how much fun the rest of us are having! You might see one or two of these elusive spouses at the yearly banquet on occasion. They always seemed to be surprised that they were enjoying themselves!

At the present time, my husband and I are part of a very informal group of Corvette people who have formed what we like to call an "unclub". We call ourselves the Carolina Vettepack and our main objective is to drive our cars to new and scenic places in this great country of ours, the good ol' USA. We take turns planning trips and finding new restaurants to cruise to.

My hopes in starting this blog is to share our experiences and talk about the places we have seen on our travels.

What is more relaxing than taking a drive, stopping at a new eatery, partaking of a beer or glass of vino, having dinner, maybe doing some shopping and enjoying the company of the people around you? Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, my husband too, was a member of a sanctioned "corvette club"--I never went because I'm not a "car person", a "racer" or a "waxer", but I do love social events and travel, a true "cruiser". What better way to do that but in a beautiful sports car? Ladies, you need to join your significant other sometime. You may just find that you do belong in a car club. The "unclub" is the bomb!
