CORVETTE Thoughts on a Cold Winter Day

The weather in our area has been colder and wetter than usual in this new year of 2008. The inclination has been to leave the Vettes snuggled up in their nice warm garage waiting for warmer days in the sun. Wrapped up in a warm "blankie" on the couch, I too am thinking of days to come. The new magazines coming in the mail bring thoughts of road trips and new destinations to go and find. Remembering places and trips we experienced last year makes me eager to get out on the road again. There is nothing quite like the feeling of being in the "pack" traveling to somewhere where we are sure to meet new Corvette friends and have great times!

As I contemplate upcoming events, I remember I need to learn how to get the images out of my new camera and into the computer. Having pictures to share with the group is wonderful and I enjoy looking back to see where we have been and what we have done. Then I start thinking practically and start reviewing traveling necessities. The drawer where travel maps and brochures reside needs to be gone through and organized. I don't know if any of the CVP has purchased a GPS device yet but our ladies in the group are awesome navigators! I do a mental inventory of different size coolers and suitcases. Two new insulated beverage cups from the National Corvette Museum wait to be put into use. They fit great into the after market cup holder we purchased last year for the C5. The NCM car blanket I bought a couple of years ago is folded and waiting to be stowed in the Vette. Sunglasses and folding chairs need to be checked to see if they are up for another year of cruise ins and events. The infamous red Corvette straw hat will make its debut this year. And always, we carry a respectfully & correctly folded American flag to remind us of what a great nation we live in!

It would be no surprise to my better half that my thoughts eventually turn to shopping. Things to keep an eye out for go on a list. I enjoy going to auto fairs like the one at the Lowe's Motor speedway (really!) because you never know what you are going to see for sale there. Ladies, it is not all car-related! Always leave a little room for "stuff" that you find on your outings.

Restless now, I need to go check on a few things. Did we use up all our car cleaning supplies?....
