We checked out a couple of restaurants this weekend that we hadn't been to before. If you are cruisin' the upstate of South Carolina and end up in Greenville, you might want to consider the Olive Tree Restaurant on Villa Rd. at North Pleasantburg Dr. (N. Hwy. 291). It is Greek and Italian fare of a wide variety. Friday night when we were there, it got crowded and I think the wait staff was a little overwhelmed but the food was worth waiting on. Since Don was driving, I decided to try the Paisanos house red wine. It complemented the food very well. I wanted to order the special dessert, Greek Custard Pie, but we were too full! Definitely a place to go back to and work your way through the menu!
Yesterday, after the sun came out and the temperature warmed up, we decided to get out and get some errands done. Don had seen the marquee for the Mauldin Deli on Hwy. 276 in Mauldin, SC, several times advertising the best Rueben sandwich and the best chicken salad in town so we decided to check it out for a late lunch. I will have to say their advertising was not misleading! Don ordered the Rueben and I had the chicken salad and we were not disappointed! This is a small cozy little deli with a big menu. We will be going back again!
