CORVETTE EXPO IN SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSE

I can't seem to get enough of the mountains this year. The better half and I made a last minute decision to get up early yesterday morning and drive up to the Corvette Expo in Tennessee. Early, on the road at 7:00 a.m. early. Once I had one of those sinful bacon, egg and cheese biscuits and a LARGE coffee from McDonald's to munch on , snuggled into my National Corvette Museum "blankie", life seemed pretty good!! There was a lot more leaf peepin' color to the foliage than either one of us expected. The sun was turning the fringes of gold on the trees to fringes of GOLD! So beautiful....

Once we got there we were lucky enough to get a parking spot near the door. That meant more time to take in all the things to see (and more time to shop!). We ran into some fellow Carolina Vettepackers and compared purchases. There seemed to be something for everyone. We snagged a t-shirt, new Corvette checkbook cover and a Corvette Wallet. Also, I have always wanted to buy some of the music CD's that have the coolest variety of of classic tunes. Yesterday I picked up Cruisin' Memories Car Tunes Original Oldies "Car Tunes" and "Southern Roots".

Lunch was calling and we had pretty much seen everything so a decision was made to head out and get lunch in Pigeon Forge. The traffic was overwhelming going south on Hwy. 66, so after stopping for a quick burger, it was decided to go north and check out all the antique stores that I have always looked at longingly when we drove by them. A vintage wooden handle pastry blender could not be passed up! I had been looking at the newer ones at the mall and this one couldn't be beat for solidity and function. I thought the prices were pretty good and if they had what you were looking for, you could have a blast seeing how much you could cram in your Corvette!

Having seen and done it all, it was decided to drive back to Greenville, SC. We had brought all our stuff to spend the night but going home sounded like a better plan. When we got back to Greenville, we stopped at the Stone Ave. location of Capri's for a late dinner. After the Mauldin location closed, we were happy to re-discover that this vintage Greenville restaurant was still in business.

We are looking forward to CVP chili cook-off on Nov. 1 and our CVP Christmas party on Dec. 13. More to come later.......
